What a lovely website. You kept that quiet!!! See you tomorrow in practice.
Hopefully this is another example of the power of the internet! Stumbled upon your site while referencing the name Zoe Cresswell. For many years her name has been sitting in the back of my mind. The reason for this is that as a 6 year old at the end of the War my family (including me!) lived on Station Road, Llandaff North and in this sleepy little hollow, living on the next block to us was this very exotic lady Zoe! I think somehow my mother babysat one of her children (as if I wasn't enough)! Could you confirm (if you know) that she did live in Llandaff North and put this feverish brain to rest? Also - in the past 42 years in Western Australia I have had the opportunity of seeing (hearing) the Pendyrus Choir and billeting one of the members and also the Treorchy Male Choir (twice). Stay with me! When I served my apprenticeship, my foreman was a member of The Treorchy and his name was Ray (Inky) Williams who was also an avid pigeon fancier! If you get the opportunity, it would be great to hear from you.
Thanks from Albany, WA next stop South Pole
Lovely to hear from you! Gosh, how fantastic! Yes Zoe did live in Llandaff North (I was also very close friends at school in Llandaff with her grandaughter Adelle!-I did mean to check with her earlier whether all this was correct-but I know it is!) What a wonderful lady Zoe was. She was a fantastic singing teacher (& also tutored my mother & father for a short while at the Cardiff colllege of music-in Cardiff Castle!) It was down to her that I was successful in the Choirgirl competition as she was excellent with the art of legato-true line singing & I learnt an awful lot from her. I went on to recieve a part-time scholarship at the WCMD which meant changing teachers, but to be honest, her tutoring was so honest & inspiring-I missed her a lot! She lived until at least 88 yeasr of age but I really can't remember her exact age? What a wonderful history you have Tony! Also, you may have read that I was fortunate to tour with Treorchy Male Voice to Australia in 1999! They went on tour there for the first time in 1986 (my husband Terry also sang on that tour!) I imagine you remember both trips well!? I loved Australia. Felt very very sad arriving back home!!!!!I will find out about Ray Williams and let you know if that is ok! Pendyrus are also an excellent choir and I don't live far from them either! With very best wishes. Diolch o galon. Rhiannon.
